The Girl Who Finally Chose Herself
There was a version of me who always put others first. The girl who thought twice before saying no, afraid of disappointing someone. The one who stretched herself thin to be everything for everyone, even when it left her feeling empty. She believed in keeping people close—the more, the better—But somewhere along the way, she changed.
Now, she prioritizes herself—not in a selfish, ruthless way, but in a way that means she finally matters to herself. She no longer apologizes for protecting her peace. She doesn’t overexplain why she’s setting boundaries. The girl who once believed in quantity over quality now knows that real connections don’t need constant validation. They just exist—strong, unshaken, and true.
She’s no longer scared to say no—because she’s learned that saying yes to things that drain her is just another way of saying no to herself. And for the first time, she’s okay with that shift. She doesn’t need to be the fixer, the peacemaker, the one who stays just because leaving would be uncomfortable. She finally understands that choosing herself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary.
And maybe, just maybe, this version of her was waiting to exist all along.
